Playing age is how old a character appears, which may differ from your own age. Equity is the actors’ union; check each theatre’s eligibility rules. An understudy learns a role to perform when the main actor is unavailable.

Access and accommodations: For general auditions, video submissions are provided for accessibility and to accommodate actors’ schedules; actors unable to wait at the theater or schedule a time can submit a video, which is reviewed with the same consideration as an in-person audition.
