Playing age, Equity, understudy… what do these mean?
Playing age is how old a character appears, which may differ from your own age. Equity is the actors’ union; check each theatre’s eligibility rules. An understudy learns a role to perform when the main actor is unavailable.
The commitment
What does it pay?
Actors will receive a $325 stipend. Understudies will receive a $200 stipend. Understudies will have one guaranteed performance. Theatre L'Acadie will also offer a complimentary headshot session with our company photographer.
Dates & location
Callbacks
Callbacks are October 18th - 10:00 - 1:00 and 6:00 - 10:00. Actors who are offered a callback will be given a time slot; some actors may be asked to stay longer, but no one will be required to attend the entire callback session.
Rehearsals
Rehearsals November 9 - January 8, taking breaks for major Winter Holidays. Rehearsals will generally take place on select weekday evenings and weekend mornings. Monday, November 9 (FIRST READ); Saturday, December 19 (DESIGNER RUN).
Technical rehearsals
Tech/Dress/Previews January 11th - January 25th. Monday, January 11 (1st REHEARSAL AT PERFORMANCE SPACE).
Performances
Performances January 27th - February 21nd. Wednesday, January 27 (OPENING NIGHT); Sunday, February 21 (CLOSING).

What to prepare
Help with headshots, résumés, and self-tapes
A headshot is a clear photo of you. An acting résumé lists your performance experience and training. A self-tape is a recorded audition video. Sides are the short script excerpts the theatre asks you to perform. Follow this theatre’s specific instructions.

Please submit a contemporary monologue, no more than 90 seconds long. A previously taped monologue may be submitted. Submissions are due via the audition form.
