Who they’re looking for
Union information: Non-union. Check the theatre’s instructions for who may audition.
Playing age, Equity, understudy… what do these mean?
Playing age is how old a character appears, which may differ from your own age. Equity is the actors’ union; check each theatre’s eligibility rules. An understudy learns a role to perform when the main actor is unavailable.
What does it pay?
For the summer “Parks” tour, the starting rate is $498 per week, with an additional $243 per week for touring dates; housing is provided. MSIP also offers competitive salaries, housing, and per diem while on tour.

What to prepare
Help with headshots, résumés, and self-tapes
A headshot is a clear photo of you. An acting résumé lists your performance experience and training. A self-tape is a recorded audition video. Sides are the short script excerpts the theatre asks you to perform. Follow this theatre’s specific instructions.
How to apply
Email a headshot and resume, including a teaching resume if you have one, by Monday, October 19th to be considered for an in-person Chicago audition. If selected, an MSIP representative will contact you to schedule. Self-taped auditions are considered; post the audition to YouTube as unlisted and provide a link by Friday, October 23rd. Live auditions are preferred. If selected for an audition, prepare two contrasting Shakespeare monologues, combined no more than 3 minutes. Bring two headshots, two acting resumes, and a teaching resume if available. Bring an instrument other than a ukulele or piano if adding music; music should not exceed 3 minutes.
